The lamp uses 12 super brilliant LEDs and a reflecting cone to get the brightest light conceivable. The post for my gas lamp rusted out and I wanted to "go Green" and save some money on my gas bill with a solar powered model. I looked at other models on the net and was about to get the GamaSonic GS-94F for about $129. I observed this model on Amazon for $119. I was able to pick one particular up that looks identical to this a single at Menards for about $69! I got an 80" aluminum post ($29... on clearance for $two at Lowes) and just after some grunt perform to remove the old cement embedded post, had the new post installed in fresh cement and plumb. The subsequent morning I installed the lamp. (Be sure to turn it on!) It delivers about as considerably light as my two mantel gas lantern, so I am extremely happy so far. Has 3 AA rechargeable batteries included (has space for 6?) Not confident about the bracket on the Amazon model, there was no such bracket in my box. The smaller set screws utilised to secure to the post barely had sufficient space to tighten so I drilled out and tapped three holes in the post and it is now particularly secure. 1 of the heads of the two screws holding the lid on was loose from the shaft. (Hence 4 and not 5 stars.) Not sure why Property Depot and Lowes do not carry solar post lamps. (They all have solar landscape lights.) Menards had three models to choose from in the "Enchanted Garden" brand. I would urge you to contemplate going solar! My neighbor will likely get 1. He has his gas turned of to save $$, There should certainly be a tax credit for this device!

Overall this is a fantastic item. I implemented it to replace an electric post light that did not perform due to underground wiring challenges. It gives off sufficient light, just don't anticipate it to light up the complete front yard. If you get a full day of sunlight, the light will stay lit all night, even in the winter. On cloudy days, you will only get 3 to four hours of light. Thanks to the other reviewer who noted that these were offered at Menards, I ending up obtaining from there for $70. The only improvement I suggest is far better fastners to mount the light to the post - the three tiny set screws included are pathetic. I drilled holes in the post and secured it with sheetmetal screws.
